Research Request Form Step 1 of 5 20% Working with WICSTThe Wisconsin Integrated Cropping Systems Trial (WICST) is a long-term, large scale agricultural experiment site that was established in 1989. As a systems trial WICST was designed to represent a diversity of agricultural practices in the North Central United States rather than covering many aspects of one or two systems (e.g. tillage, fertilizer, row spacing). Critical to the idea of WICST are the narratives that underpin and provide relevance to each cropping system. Those requesting access to the WICST trial or use of WICST data are asked to work with the WICST management team to answer any questions regarding cropping systems relevance or underpinning narrative, as well as to address questions regarding the trials experimental design. Proposed Sampling PlanWe recognize that plans can change based on weather and discovery, and are appropriately flexible. If sampling requires the deployment of special equipment (e.g. flux boxes, vertebrate traps, minirhizotrons) please note the size and duration that equipment will be in place, as well as any special requirements such as power or data loggers. If collected samples will be kept for a long-term storage (e.g. in voucher collections) please provide details. If you are proposing any microplot experiments (disturbance of any kind including the application of any chemicals or water) please describe well. 1. What type of samples are needed?*Please include amounts required. 2. Where will samples be taken from?*e.g. cropping system, replicate, plot, etc.3. When do you plan to start sampling? MM slash DD slash YYYY 4. When will you be done sampling? MM slash DD slash YYYY 5. How frequently do you plan to sample?*6. How will samples be collected?*e.g. traps, sweeps, soil cores, etc.7. Who will be doing the sampling?*Please let us know if you will need or are expecting help from the WICST team. Site Use, Data Access, and AcknowledgementsPlease indicate your agreement to the following terms. No sampling will be performed at the site without the explicit knowledge and permission of the WICST Director (Dr. Sanford), Research Scientist (Dr. von Haden), or field site manager (Mark Walsh).* Agree Do Not Agree Before implementation, any significant change in experimental design, sampling plan, data analysis, or publication plans will be discussed with the WICST Director (Dr. Sanford).* Agree Do Not Agree Project update (progress, setbacks, etc.) meetings will be held every six months to ensure effective communication between the WICST management and research teams.* Agree Do Not Agree All publications arising from work done at WICST or with samples or data from the site will be reported to the WICST Director (Dr. Sanford).* Agree Do Not Agree Data collected from WICST will be made available to the scientific community promptly following publication and may be hosted by the WICST data catalog.* Agree Do Not Agree Acknowledging WICSTInvestigators using the WICST site, samples, or data are asked to acknowledge WICST support. Templates for such support statement are provided below. Do you agree to the acknowledgment terms described above for posters, presentations, and scientific publications resulting from your work with WICST?* Agree Do Not Agree Acknoweldgement Template (Site Use)"This work was conducted at the Wisconsin Integrated Cropping Systems Trial (WICST). We want to acknowledge Dr. Josh Posner, whose vision and leadership led to the establishment of WICST in 1990. We would also like to acknowledge Drs. Gregg Sanford, Randall Jackson, and Adam von Haden, Mark Walsh, the staff of UW-Madison’s Arlington Agricultural Research Station, and the many others who have provided the experiment's financial, agronomic, and technical support over the years. Critical long-term funding for WICST is provided by Kikkoman Foods, Inc. and Rock River Laboratories." Sanford, Jackson, and von Haden) to determine whether additional information is required. In cases where significant infrastructure or treatment manipulations are proposed, approval from the WICST Executive Committee may also be required. Approval normally takes 2-3 weeks. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. Δ
